two new forest ponies - National Park Local Plan

Your comments are invited on the draft Local Plan public consultation between 3 October and 28 November 2016

Proposed planning policies which will ultimately shape the future of the New Forest National Park are up for discussion as the draft Local Plan is published for public consultation.

An initial stage of public consultation was undertaken in Autumn 2015 asking for people’s views on the key issues that the National Park Authority should address when reviewing its planning policies and for suggestions about any land that should be considered for development.

Responses were received from a wide range of interest groups, parish councils and residents of the National Park and these have helped shape the draft Local Plan.

New Forest National Park Authority Chairman Oliver Crosthwaite-Eyre said: ‘Our planning policies are a key way through which we protect the National Park’s special qualities, support the local economy and conserve the distinctive New Forest character of our communities.

‘This draft Local Plan sets out our proposed policies that will ultimately be used to guide planning decisions within the National Park, so it is vital we hear the views of as many people as possible.’

The draft Local Plan includes proposed planning policies to conserve the built and natural environment of the New Forest and meet the needs of the 35,000 people living within the Park.

A number of site allocations for housing and other uses are now included within the draft Plan, which can be viewed at
