potatoes and a cooking pan in a kitchen situation

Men aged over 55 are being invited to brush up their kitchen skills and learn to cook a range of tasty healthy meals at free weekly cookery demonstration sessions being offered by New Forest District Council and Hampshire County Council.

The two hour cooking demonstrations will run each week for six weeks from 4 and 6 November at New Milton and Totton.

Sessions will cover how to cook a range of simple meals, food shopping ideas, food hygiene and storage and the importance of healthy eating to your health and wellbeing.

The informal, friendly classes will give men who may have had little experience of cooking for themselves the chance to taste the recipes, ask questions and gain useful tips to try at home.

A participant on a previous course commented: “It’s a fantastic course – the menus, cooking and sample tasting have been great.”

  • Totton Christian Centre starts 4 November 5pm-7pm
  • New Milton Community Centre starts 6 November 10am-12noon
