Introducing Blue Watch

Blue Watch is a fire and rescue service- supported home safety scheme.
• Practical advice and guidance online
• A two-tier property safety service for landlords
• An online shop offering Blue Watch-approved fire and carbon monoxide safety products

Blue Watch’s services and support

The scheme has been set up by the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA), whose firefighters see the devastation and costs of fires and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning in homes every year.
Blue Watch provides landlords, letting agents and tenants with advice, support and products – all designed to make properties safer from the potential risks of fire and carbon monoxide.

Self-declaration Service

The Self-declaration Service provides landlords and letting agents with an online property check listing tool.

Validation Service
Once a property has been self-declared, landlords and letting agents can then request the full Blue Watch
validation Service.

This involves a visit by an official fire and rescue services officer, or one of their partners, who’ll validate the landlord’s declaration of safety. They’ll also go further, highlighting any additional areas for improvement and recommending any additional appropriate safety equipment.

What does it mean to me?
For Landlords, it means they can promote their property as a safer, better place for tenants to live. The Blue Watch symbol provides peace of mind and makes the property more marketable.

For Letting Agents, the Blue Watch symbol shows that the property is well maintained and meets our safety standard. Agents can also view summary information about all the properties on their books on the Blue Watch website and they can download certificates and other documents when marketing them.

For tenants, they can check a property on the Blue Watch website and know that any home with the symbol will be a safer place to live.
Anyone can visit the Blue Watch website to get advice and products.
