Planned coverage area map

The Hampshire Superfast Broadband Programme is pleased to be able to publish the ‘Big Picture’ map.

Wave One of the programme (the green area on the map) will build on commercial coverage and extend superfast broadband to 90% of premises across Hampshire by the end of 2015. Delivered in phases, Wave One will pass more than 57,500 premises across the county.

The Big Picture map shows a high level view, or forecast, of the planned coverage area and is based on postcode areas. We will be publishing detailed maps for each phase once planning has been completed.

Phase One

We have also published a map for phase one of the programme and the first premises will be able to switch on to Superfast Broadband services in January 2014. When completed in March 2014, nearly 6,000 premises will have access to Superfast Broadband. As soon as planning for Phase 2 has finished, we will publish a map of this area too.

Extending Coverage Beyond 90%

Planning is underway for Wave Two of the programme to build on our commitment to reach 90% of premises in Hampshire by 2015 and extend coverage to at least 95% by the end of 2017.

Broadband sign up campaign remains vital

Please encourage your friends and neighbours to register if they haven’t already done so.

We want as many people as possible to sign up to our campaign so that we can demonstrate demand, but also so we contact people when services become available in their areas.

High levels of take-up will help us to increase the number of locations we are able to reach with the limited funding available.

* Please note, registering support does not commit anyone to sign up to a new service.

Community Involvement

Thank you!

We have over 20,000 expressions of interest from businesses and residents across Hampshire; one of the largest numbers of registrations in the country.

The more names and email addresses we have, the easier it will be for us to contact you and let you know when services become available. The more people that take up Superfast Broadband when it becomes available the easier it will be for us to extend coverage even further.

We will be contacting people who have registered with us by email as each phase of the rollout goes live to explain how to switch on to Superfast Broadband.

Community Champions will have a vital role to play during this process in helping people understand that the upgrade to Superfast Broadband won’t be automatic and people and businesses alike will need to order a new service from their Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Our Community Champions have done a fantastic job so far in spreading the word to get as many people as possible to register their interest in Superfast Broadband, so we are confident that they will be able to take up this new challenge too.

If you would like to volunteer to help with this, and haven’t already done so, then please register here.
