New play house The play house at the Lloyd Recreation Ground has recently been replaced as the old one had become very worn from the use it has received over the years. The new play house was chosen after a consultation with the Youth Club and Toddler groups at the Village Hall. Old Red Phone Box The old red phone box on Old Magazine Close has been renovated and turned into an information point by local resident Daniel Strickland and his Grandfather. The renovations were paid for by grants given by the District and County Councillors Public Open Spaces The Grounds men have worked tirelessly again this year to maintain the 80 acres of open spaces within the village. The Grounds men have continued to carry out daily litter picks around the play areas and open space. Over the Autumn they planted another 10,000 bulbs which have flowered this Spring. Centenary Poppy Campaign The Parish Council are currently supporting the Royal British Legions campaign to make Britain a sea of red over the summer by planting Flanders Poppy seeds. The Parish Council have distributed Poppy Seeds to the Schools, Youth Club, WI, Solid Silver and Pre-Schools. Expenditure and Income 2013/14 The precept for 2013/14 represented an increase of £2.39 or 4½p per week per band D property. The amount payable to Marchwood Parish Council this year for a band ‘D’ property was £98.57. Thank You: I would like to thank Tony Farthing and Marchwood Yacht Club for the kind donation of the boat that has now been filled with flowers and situated at the corner by the Doctors Surgery. 5
