District Councillor Sue Bennison

         Commercial Investment
In my last Village News article I spoke about a new
venture by NFDC and that was to investigate
commercial property purchase as an investment. I
can now report that a number of sites have been
investigated with a strong possibility of one being
actively pursued. It will be interesting to hear if that
site becomes the first of what I hope will be many.

         Residential Investment
I have always believed that the Council should invest in private residential
properties and I am pleased to say that this is now being undertaken. It
is necessary for a separate company to be set up and the Council is now
working towards this goal. It will then be possible for the Council to buy
existing residential properties that come onto the open market, or build on
land already Council owned. These houses are for the private rental
market and are completely unconnected to the existing council housing
provision. These houses will be managed “in house” which the Council
has years of experience in. This project again will provide a good
investment opportunity and will alleviate the reductions in government
         funding year on year.

         Dibden Golf Centre
I have again sat on the Task & Finish Group this time tasked with
reviewing the Contract with Mytime Active to consider the next 5 years
rental income and joint long term investment proposals.

In January we had a tour of the internal facilities and met with
representatives of Bramshott Hill Golf Club and representatives from
Dibden Open Golf Society and Bramshaw Golf Club. We had a
presentation from Mytime Active on how from their perspective the last 5
year had gone. We met again in February to discuss the proposals put
forward by Mytime Active, discuss how the golf course had been
managed over the past 5 years and address the concerns raised by the
resident golf club and the users of the golf course.
