New Forest residents will start to receive their electoral registration forms through the post from today, 13 July.
Forms are being sent earlier than usual this year to ensure the electoral register is as up-to-date as possible ahead of the first ever police and crime commissioner elections on Thursday 15 November. Residents are encouraged to complete their registration form and return it promptly to ensure they can participate this November. Residents who don’t receive their form can contact the elections team on 023 8028 5445 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
New Forest District Council’s electoral registration officer, Chief Executive Dave Yates, said: “Registering to vote is quick and simple. All you have to do is update the annual canvass form with details of everyone who lives in the household and is eligible to vote and return it to us as soon as possible. If your details haven’t changed you can also reply on-line or by telephone. These are new elections. If you want your say, you must ensure you’re registered to vote.”
