As part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations this year, it has been suggested that couples who have been married throughout the Queen’s reign would like to gather together and have a celebration as well that also marks their own dedication and commitment to each other and reflects the 60 years of change at the same time.
We have looked into the possibilities for this locally and have created a plan that the threefold for residents of Hampshire
1. A celebration of Marriage for 60+years with the opportunity to renew their vows free of charge
2. A ” royal” garden party in the county attended by some local personalities and dignitaries
3. A commemorative photograph of the couple and a small gift
We now need the help of local councils to reach out to the communities and see if there are any couples in their towns and villages who have reached the 60 years of marriage milestones or exceeded these, and let us know the details so we can send invites to them.
The occasion will be in the summer.
Contact Marchwood Parish Council if you would like more details.
