We began the new pre-school year by welcoming back
the children, and also the new children who joined
us for the first time.
The main topic this term has been ‘About Me’ where the children have
been learning how their bodies work.
We have had great fun starting the day with ‘Toddleraerobics’ -
healthy exercise to show how our hearts and lungs work. The older children,
the Twigglets, have extended this topic through exploring all their senses
(sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell).
The children have also been learning about fruit and vegetables and we have
all enjoyed sponge painting with pieces of fruit.
Another topic covered was numbers and the children explored this subject in
a fun way via the ‘shoe shop’ in our role play area.
The children also enjoyed learning about shapes by making
puppets with triangles, circles, squares and rectangles.
Our House, Road Safety and Keeping Safe, were other topics the children enjoyed
learning about this term.
We also celebrated Harvest Festival and all donations were sent to the charity ‘Scratch’.
The children have also been busy rehearsing for this year’s
Christmas entertainment - another Twiggs Lane production not to be missed.
Our fund-raising events this term both took place in November - the Toy and Baby
Equipment Sale, and the Christmas Activity Morning. Both events are always extremely
popular and the funds raised have benefited the children who have attended the
pre-school.
Finally the staff at Twiggs Lane would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to
all the parents who very generously got together and donated a gift to the
staff.
On the 1st October we went to see the show Chicago and this included
a pre-dinner.
Please remember it is never too early to register your child for pre-school,
so please call in and collect an application form. We have been OFSTED inspected
and are registered for the Nursery Education Grant.
