Harvest
“Thank you” to everyone who supported the ‘goats
for Africa’ appeal. We managed to send £1179.74
and much of that was gift aided with the result that
Farm Africa will be able to supply nearly 50 goats.
Thank
you to Marchwood Junior and Infant Schools as well as
members of St.John’s who took part in this and
who also supplied a very full car load of groceries which
were delivered to Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington.
Christmas
Sunday 19th December at 6pm in St. John’s, there
will be a traditional carol service, with Bible readings,
for everyone who wants to come.
Members of the three Marchwood churches will be there
and extend a warm welcome to all. Mince pies will be
available after the service.
Christmas Eve
Midnight Mass will begin at 11pm
Christmas Day
Family Communion at 10am
Sunday 26th (The Feast of Stephen)
There will be a quiet, short Communion service at 10am
It was a strange way to have your son born. In a backyard
stable, smelly, dirty and full of cobwebs. Not a grand
entrance for someone who was supposed to be God’s
son. Why not with a fanfare of trumpets, born in a
posh house in warm, clean surroundings? Someone so
important should have been accompanied by kings, princes
and ministers of state, not an inn-keeper’s wife
and grubby shepherds.
The whole biblical Christmas
story seems so unlikely. So unbelievable that it just
could have happened. The account of the birth of Jesus
was not to stress how important he was but that his
human side was perfectly normal - just like us. He
came in the most unlikely fashion to show us how to
live, to die for us, to rise again for us. That was
God’s plan and it worked.
Now, over 2000 years
later, hundreds of thousands, probably millions, of
people all over the world will celebrate the unlikely
and unusual birth of God’s son, at this Christmas
time, and welcome him into their lives. He invites
you to be one of them.
A Word of Welcome
To
those people who have moved into new houses in
Marchwood. As
well as the Parish Church of St.John’s
in Main Road there is also the
New Forest Community Church which meets on
Sunday mornings in
the Village Hall, Vicarage Road, at 10.30am
and the Gospel
Church which meets in the Infants School, Twiggs
Lane, on Sunday
mornings at 11.00am
Everyone will find a warm welcome at our
churches.
