As I look out of my window, there are signs of change.
The Autumn colours are showing on the trees, the temperature
is lower and the amount of daylight is getting less day
by day. It reminds me of the phrase ‘change is
here to stay’.
This is also true for us at New Forest Community Church
where we are exploring ways of helping to make our meetings
at the Village
Hall more relevant - after all Jesus came to connect with the people of his day.
It may have been in large crowds, smaller groups or
sometimes with ones or twos.
What he said and did was showing that everyone was important
to God and that was ultimately demonstrated by Jesus’ death.
On Sunday mornings, we now meet in a way which allows
people to discuss things which are said around tables with coffee.
We have recently been considering ‘What on Earth am I here for?’ And
quotes like ‘a life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a
God-shaped life is like a flourishing tree’. We have also started a ‘prayer
request’ scheme where we will pray for those who ask.
We also have an active Young Peoples Group. Over the Summer they took part in “Soul
in the City” in London where they helped in
renovating a run down community room, restoring an overgrown nature trail, clearing
unwanted and unsightly rubbish.
Over the past couple of years they have also
raised over £3,000 for a children’s orphanage in
Nicaragua.
If you would like to know more, you would be very welcome to
visit us at one of our Sunday mornings at 10.30 in the Village Hall or to contact
us on 023 8086 4232 - also the number if you would like us
to pray for you.

You
would also be welcome to our Christmas Celebration
with carols,
items by the Children and Young People’s
Group
on Sunday 19th December at 4.00pm in the Village Hall. |
