Mulberry Pre-School
Last updated on Tuesday September 21,2004

The autumn term has been as busy as ever with lots of new children and their families to welcome to Mulberry. We have all enjoyed being able to play outside whenever possible on our lovely new roadway and soft tarmac areas. It makes such a difference to children’s development if they are able to explore activities outside as well as inside.

During the first half of the term we had fun exploring “Nursery Rhymes”. In keeping with one of our chosen rhymes,”Sing a song of Sixpence” we transformed our home corner into a “castle” which the children loved. We made pies (well jam tarts actually!), had a Royal throne, made crowns, pretended to be Kings and Queens, counted lots of home made money and practised hanging out lots of washing!! Wow, all this in a week!

We ended our half term with a fancy dress disco party, which was great fun for children and adults alike. There were lots of competitions, games, stalls, music and a lovely menu of healthy food options.

After half term we came back to explore our new topic of “Day and Night.” We looked at the different things that could be seen in the sky during the day and night, the different animals that could be found, the different jobs that people do and at our different routines. We also looked at different ways that people celebrate light all around the world.

We also had a visit from Graham who runs ” Lyndon Hedgehog Rescue”, who brought in some of his wonderful success stories, the children really enjoyed being able to see the hedgehogs so closely.

November 19th was a day to remember as we joined in the nationwide celebrations for Children In Need. We had our own “Party for Pudsey” in special style to keep with our “Day and Night” theme and made it a pyjama party! Not just for the children but the adults too!

Yes, amazingly we also had time to prepare for our usual Christmas activities! These included, a visit to the Infant school Christmas performance, making and decorating individual Christmas cakes, learning and singing some festive songs, a crib service, a Christmas party and of course lots of glitter and gluing!

We have had a wonderful term and are sure the children would all agree we have certainly had fun!

If you are interested in registering your child for a place at Mulberry, please feel free to call in and collect an application form. We are always pleased to see you, an appointment is not necessary.
