Autumn‘s hot topic for September’s
speakers was the Fire Brigade.
Russ a retained
fireman based at Brockenhurst Fire station hilariously
described his day to day life as a fireman and movingly
told us of the sad moments he has had to deal with....of
course some accidents with fire are preventable and
Ian, the other guest fireman, now retired, gave the
members numerous safety hints with regard to our
homes...the main one being if a fire has started,
shut it in and get yourself out!!
Sue Smith from Fordingbridge came to the October meeting to talk about Magic
in its various guises. Sue spoke about Earth Magic and how the movements of the
Earth and Moon affect our lives and have done for many centuries, and how natural
remedies seemed like magic with their healing properties to our forbears. Sue
also discussed Candle Magic and fortune telling with Runes, Numerology and of
course Tarot.
The members were held in thrall by these ideas and several went home to try Candle
Magic for themselves. You must not wish ill on anyone though, this magic is only
for the good!
November was the AGM and after the business the members had a “Poems and
Puds” entertainment which went down very well.
December’s Party is home grown entertainment.. we cannot say what as
yet, because that will spoil the surprise.
Marchwood W.I. Darts team has reached the semi-final/ final to be played in November
and we wait with baited breath for the the outcome!
January’s speaker is Waterside Historian, Graham Parkes who will be talking
to the group about the highs and lows of the life of Hythe Pier.
Other talks to look forward to in the New Year are Palmistry, Crop Circles, Punch
and Judy and Chocolates!!
Marchwood W.I. is a thriving and modern women’s group, we have meetings
covering every aspect of our lives. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month
at 7.15 p.m. in Marchwood Village Hall and all are welcome.
