Where
does the year go, nearly Christmas already!
By the time this publication reaches you, the senior
citizens party, hosted by the Scouts will have taken
place on December 11th.
This annual jamboree has been
seasonal entertainment welcomed and looked forward to
by our older village residents for many years.
We will be having our own stall at the village traders
Christmas Fair on Tuesday, December 7th.
Well, what’s new on the Community Association
front this quarter?
Very sadly we have had to squash any ideas of forming
another village Pre-School within our premises. Every
avenue has been explored, but under current legislation
the numbers we would be permitted to have would not
prove to be cost effective. As we are a charity there
is a legal obligation by the trustees of the Village
Hall to ensure that the economic viability of anything
that is embarked on, does not affect the day to day
running costs of this facility, to the detriment of
other users
We have not taken this decision lightly, and sincerely
hope that some time in the future someone else will
be able to take this challenge on.
On a lighter note, in October the Village Hall was
the venue for a successful Craft Fair, this time to
raise funds for and during Breast Cancer Awareness
month. We hope that a Craft Fair will become an annual
event but possibly earlier in the year.
As part of our own ongoing funding activities, on
the final Saturday in October the Association held
a fund raising Table Top and Jumble Sale. This was
reasonably successful and will be repeated next year,
if we can only get the publicity right. We are considering
a plane with a banner or a barrage balloon flying over
the Village Hall!!
The halls continue to be well booked on a daily basis,
and bookings are made well in advance, so remember
to book early to avoid being disappointed.
Finally we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and
a peaceful New Year.
From,
Mike Saxby and all the very hard-working staff and the voluntary committee |
