Christmas is mistletoe and
kisses
Panto Baddies, boos and hisses
Turkey, pudding, lots of eating
Living in a box, no central heating
Christmas shopping, loads of bags
Kids playing football, ball made of rags
Country house party, Tiffany gifts
Endless stairs, Tower block, vandalised lifts
Kids deluged with presents they don’t really need
Are we buying their love, or encouraging greed?
Father Xmas in Lapland, where some kids are flying
Or they’re thirsty, ill, desolate, frightened or
dying
I’m not saying its wrong to have fun at this time
It’s just making me think as I’m writing
this rhyme
So lets eat drink and be merry
We’ve goodwill and peace at this fest
But for some, it's a bad day, just like all the rest.
