Once more, it is time for fun and games in Marchwood and the committee have been working hard to ensure that this year again promises to be another day of mega fun for everyone.

The fancy dress parade will start at 12.00. The theme this year is TROPICAL ISLANDS, so there is scope for as much colour and fun as you want.

There will be prizes for the best costumes.

This year, there will be a competition open to tots and teens to make your very own Tropical Island out of recycled materials on boards measuring 15 inches square.

Let your imagination run riot and you could win prizes which will be sponsored by NFDC recycling road show. Bring them along on the day. Judging will be at 4 p.m.

Amongst other activities, there will be sumo wrestling, a bungee run, go karts, bouncy castle, laser clay pigeon shooting as well as football training practice with one of Saints junior coaches. Punch and Judy will be there to entertain. Jonathan the Jester will be back and he might be bringing his friend along too!

This year there will be a Grand Draw. Tickets (50p) will be on sale at various places throughout the village before the day and also on the 12th at the fete.

First prize is a weekend break for two at The White Buck, Burley, courtesy of Fullers. Second prize is £50 and amongst the many other great prizes will be a signed Saints football, a luxury hamper, and tickets to local attractions.

Don’t miss out.

Watch the village notice boards for a list of where to buy your tickets. Good Luck!!

Once again, the Sweet Soul Café will be doing the BBQ, the W.I will be supplying tea and cakes, The Plonkers will be singing for you, the beer tent will quench the thirst, loads of stalls will be selling their wares and Sunnyfields will be demonstrating culinary talents of a local chef.

The village fete would not take place if it were not for the dedicated voluntary work of the committee members.

However, more help is urgently needed. On the day, volunteers are necessary to help the day run smoothly.

Help is especially required with the BBQ as 4 hours is a long time for anyone to be cooking in a hot tent on a hot day in one go.

Organisers are needed to help direct stallholders to their pitches and with general help around the field.

If you can spare some time, please contact us. If you would like to contribute to the organisation of next year’s event – please let us know.

Don’t forget – this is an event for the whole village so please support it.

We would like to thank all of our very generous sponsors for their support this year.

A very special thanks has to be given to the Army based in the village who are providing tents and other equipment on the day. Without them it would be very difficult to put on such a super day.
