Daisy Scanlon, an incredible 88 years old, is to run in the “Race for Life” the nationwide charity run. Daisy is running in memory of her daughter Diane, who sadly died of ovarian cancer in 2007.
This annual race takes place in various venues all over the country and Daisy will be running in the Windsor Race. Daisy is a cockney, born in Paddington, but moved with her family to Berkshire when she was sixteen.
There she met her husband to be, married and brought up her three daughters, so will be running on her “Home Turf” Daisy has been living in Marchwood for 26 years, and worked at Hunters Chemists until she was 79!!!
She has lived on her own for the last sixteen years, and with the help of neighbours (who are also running for Diane on Southampton Common) and Diane’s husband, cared for Diane through her illness.
Daisy is a stalwart member of the “Solid Silver Club” the senior citizens club held in the village hall.
