| St. John the Apostle, Marchwood Parish Church |
Christians believe that prayer can really change things. We believe that it’s our duty, as Christians, to pray for others, the problems of the world and for particular needs. At St. John’s, we regularly pray for everyone in Marchwood on a road by road basis. At each of the four celebrations of Holy Communion - Sundays and in the week - we remember those living in three or four roads so that during one month we cover all parts of Marchwood.
It has been suggested that we could pray for specific people and particular needs. If anyone would like a prayer for a loved one or for themselves, please put in writing and place it in the ‘wall safe’ which is just inside the door of the church, on the left as you walk into the main body of the church. St. John’s is usually open everyday from 9am until 4pm. Please do let us know if we can help you in prayer.
Soon.. we hope .. the scaffolding will be back.
We hope that part two of the restoration will start in the early part of the summer. We plan to restore the stonework at the east end of the church, do some roof repairs and refurbish all the windows. This will cost in the region of £140,000, the major part of which comes again from English Heritage - for which we are profoundly thankful. It is estimated that the work will last nearly 6 months. When this is completed our church will be in good condition apart from some minor low level stonework repairs.
