1st August 1907 - a date of great importance for members of the Scout Movement for that was the first day of the experimental camp led by Lord Baden-Powell on Brownsea Island.
Marchwood Beavers, Cubs and Scouts together with their Leaders are joining members throughout the world in celebrating 100 years of Scouting.
Many members are wearing the special Jubilee ‘starry’ scarf and hoping to be able to gain the four badges showing their participation in some special activities celebrating this year, whilst continuing with their ‘normal’ activities.
The last weekend of May has been designated “Jubilee camp weekend” when it is hoped as many members throughout the country will be in camp. All Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from Marchwood have the opportunity to camp that weekend at Fernycrofts, the Hampshire camp site in the Forest, along with others from across the country.
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from Marchwood will also gather in the Village Centre at 8.00am on 1st August 2007 to play their part in the Sunrise Ceremony which will be taking place across the whole world!
The climax of the year will be a World Jamboree held here in England and attended by 40,000 Scouts from throughout the world.
We are very proud to tell everyone that Andrew Hargroves from Marchwood Scouts Group, has been selected to attend the wonderful occasion and we know that he will enjoy the experience. Well done Andrew.
