West Hampshire Pension Service
The Pension Service is part of the government Department for Work and Pensions. Visiting teams are set up nationally and work within local authority areas. Their aim is to ensure that the over 60’s receive all their entitlements.
They have local visiting officers based in Hythe and will visit over 60’s who live in the New Forest Local Authority area. They provide a complete check of a customer’s circumstances and will complete all documentation to ensure that they can apply for all of their entitlements. This includes Pension Credit, Attendance Allowance, Carers Allowance, Bereavement benefits, Housing and Council Tax benefits and any other that are relevant.
Whilst visiting, they also aim to advise of other services that are available in their area, eg: those offered by Age Concern or Citizens Advice Bureau. They can also give other information eg: how to save money on utility bills or how to access care services. They will always confirm the date, time and name of the visiting officer by letter. They always carry indentification and never turn up unannounced.

What’s on offer:
Each session will last for an hour and will help you develop your computer skills, hopefully allowing you, by the end, to be comfortable and fluent when using a computer!

My apologies to those residents who have contacted me since the last issue, to tell me they could not contact the Handy Man Service on the telephone number I gave. Unbeknown to me this service had been cancelled due to lack of funding!
