The young people of the Gospel Church youth groups once again celebrated their Mum’s on
Mother’s Day Weekend with a sumptuous meal.
Word had got around about how good it all was last year, and even more Mums turned out on the Friday evening to be wined and dined in style. Every detail was as you would expect from a classy restaurant, right down to the buttonholes worn by all the waiters and waitresses - of which there were around 30!
All the mums had to do was order their choice from the menu beforehand, then sit back and relax. Their coats were taken at the door, and they were conducted to the upstairs hall at the church, which had turned restaurant for the night, complete with candles, flowers and light music.
Each course was delivered by the young people, who had made a note of where every mum was sitting to make sure that not only did she get the right meal, but everyone on the table was served at the same time. It was so slick!
Glasses were kept topped up, and all the food was delivered perfectly presented, and with a smile. At the end of the evening all the young waiters and waitresses were brought into the room to take a bow. The applause lasted some time, because there were lots of them!
Special thanks this year go to Kate Minnards, Emma Lee and Hannah Brown, who helped organise the whole thing as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award.
