After 3 years as Chairman of Marchwood Parish Council it is time for me to stand aside and for another councillor to take my place. It has been an honour and a privilege to be in the Chair and I will continue to serve the village as a member of the Council for the remainder of my term of office.
I wish my successor every success as Chairman.
An issue that has been a constant factor throughout my time on the Parish Council has been that of traffic and the problem appears to be getting worse. In the last issue of the Village News I apparently gave the impression that I agreed with people speeding through the village and was quite harshly criticised for this view by a local lady who wrote to the press.
I was very surprised that this was her understanding of the article and I must state quite categorically that I do not agree with speeding at all anywhere and personally I never speed. I would like to thank the local resident who wrote in my defence; I really appreciated it.
There is a high proportion of two-car families in the village and a change of attitude is needed by everyone to help with the traffic problems. In terms of speeding the police tell us that it is mainly caused by local residents. Maybe we all need to think about the journeys we make.
And so finally, yes finally it is goodbye from him…….
