Sponsored Walk – all the sections took part in a sponsored walk at Bolton’s Bench near Lyndhurst. The boys were sponsored for each return climb they did with the aim to climb Everest between them. The money raised will be divided between the Worldwide Fund for Nature and the Scout organisation.

St George’s Day Parade - This year the venue was once again St John’s Church, Hythe with the boys parading from the pier through Hythe to the church. The annual St George’s Day parade is where all sections in the New Forest East Scout Council renew their promises.

Plant and Cake Sale - We held our Plant and Cake Sale on May 14th Thank you to everyone who supported the sale. The money raised will be put towards new chairs for the scout hut.

Scouts – Congratulations to the Scout 5-a-side football team who won the district competition; they were undefeated in the tournament and won the final 10-1. The winning team was Andrew Hargroves, Stephen Oldham, Richard Yates, Robert Miell, George Minards and Callum Smith. The Scouts are working on the theme environment and have been making bird boxes.

Cubs Pack – Congratulations to the Cub 5-a-side football team who also won the district competition. The winning team was Jack Miell, Matthew Hargroves, Joe Nash, Elliot Ireland, Stephen Robinshaw and Lawrence Baker. The Cubs went on to represent the district at football. A well done also goes to Zak Sherlock who won the district chess competition in the 9½ and over section and to Lawrence Baker who was second in the under 9 age group. The Cubs are finding out about global conservation and during the summer term will be visiting Testwood Lake, the forest and Lepe Beach to take part in a litter pick. Thirteen boys have now been awarded the Environment badge. Some of the cubs also helped at the Infant School May Fayre.

Beaver Colony - The Beavers have been working on their ‘Faith’ badge and have taken part in a litter clear in Lloyd Recreation ground. For any enquiries regarding the Scout Group please contact Brenda Knight on 023 80865012.
