We held our annual presentation evening at Marchwood Sports and Social Club on 22nd April where we were able to congratulate all the players who have completed a very successful and enjoyable season for Marchwood Rangers. This year we were delighted to have Marian Pahars from Southampton FC to make the presentations.

Congratulations to the following boys who were voted

Player of the Year:

Under 8 – Jack Miell
Under 10 – John Leuddeke
Under 11 – Thomas Rawlings
Under 12 – Alex Jackson
Under 13 – Liam Self

The club ran two teams in the seven-a-side Eastleigh and District Mini Soccer League, competing at the Under 8 and 10 age groups, whilst the under 11, 12 and 13 age groups competed in the eleven-a-side Southampton Tyro League.

The under 13 age group finished 7th in their league and should hopefully remain in Division 2. The under 12 team finished runners up in Division 3 and have therefore secured promotion to Division 2, they lost only two games all season which were to the division champions. The under 11 team had a difficult first season in the Tyro League, however they are through to the final of a Tyro Cup on May 8th.

Les Minards has now stepped down as manager of the under 11’s. I would like to thank Les for all the hard work he has put in for the team over the last 6 years. Les is remaining on the committee and will still help with the team. I wish Colin Whitehorn every success as he takes over the team.

In the Eastleigh & District Mini Soccer, both the under 8 and 10 age groups finished mid table in their respective leagues and in doing so they put in some excellent performances which did not always produce the results they deserved. The under 10 manager, Brett Down, will now prepare the team for the Tyro League in September. We are hoping that next season we will have a new under 10 team to enter in the league.

Many people have put in a great deal of time and effort to make the season such a success, none more so than the Managers and so on behalf of the players and parents our thanks go to Simon Lee, Steve Petty, Les Minards, Colin Whitehorn, Sue Froggett and Brett Down together with the many parents who have assisted them with training throughout the year.

Thanks also go to the parents for their support of the children and club throughout the season and to the committee for all their hard work which is much appreciated.
