For interested readers, I list below some of the recent activities of the Parish Council Amenities Committee.
Flower Boxes
Flower boxes have been attached to the Marchwood Village entry signs in Hythe Road and Bury Farm Road. If successful, it is hoped to extend this scheme to other entry points.
Bridge at Oaklands
Readers may recall my earlier statement of the need to replace the above bridge on safety grounds. The Committee approved a design manufactured in wood as was the previous bridge , but with the addition of non-slip footings. The new bridge is now in place and as it was mostly assembled offsite, we trust the installation caused the minimum
disruption.

Lloyds Rec: Under 12s Play Area
Following the improvements carried out to the under 12’s play area, including downsizing and the installation of new swings and apparatus, it is pleasing to note that the area is being used much more than
previously.
Seating
Following requests from residents, our maintenance team have filled in the worn areas in front of benches where necessary and laid down paving slabs to improve footings. We hope this proves satisfactory.
Litter Bins
New Forest District Council is still being pressed to replace the litter bin adjacent to the bus shelter in Hythe Road and to site a new one in Main Road. We are also awaiting a replacement bin for the path behind the Falklands War Memorial.
