| Twiggs Lane Pre-School |
A big welcome back to all the children after their Christmas break and a special hello to all the new ones.
It seems a long time ago now but the autumn/winter term was very busy with various activities. The Christmas Activity morning was a huge success, a big thanks to everyone who helped it run smoothly. The Christmas Entertainment afternoon featured a wonderful play called ‘The Night Before Christmas’, which was put together by the preschool staff and starred the preschool children, staff (and some parents!!). Everyone worked very hard and it was very well attended.
The topic for this term was ‘Exploration Time’. The children were exploring the seasons with various activities including a safety week, which involved road awareness, firework safety, and even a visit from a fire-fighter. They also made patterns and prints using leaves and other natural resources. They were all very busy making wonderful Christmas cards and gifts, whilst also rehearsing for the Christmas play.
The preschool garden has been planted with an assortment of shrubs and wallflowers and, if you look around you will notice lots of colourful Wellington boots, which have been filled with spring bulbs. These should look lovely soon.
Preschool theme for this term has been ‘Myself’. Throughout the term we have been looking at how to look after ourselves, involving looking at what we eat, parts of the body, teeth/hygiene and exercise. Twigglets theme has been ‘Changes’, looking at our emotions, growing and cooking.
The children will be taking part in Chinese New Year Celebrations which this year is Year of the Pig (Boar) We will be holding a Toy Sale in the Village Hall on Saturday 28th April. Notices detailing times will be posted nearer the date.
Please remember it is never too early to register your child for pre-school. Please call in and collect an application form. We have been OFSTED inspected and are registered for the Nursery Education Grant.
