On this day, so long ago
Three men hung on crosses, though
Just two deserved the death they got,
The other one, He did not.
He was hung, or so they say,
Because of things I do today,
It’s hard to see how these things link,
But if I really stop and think,
And if I, too, believe in God,
Then I can see, how could I not,
That punishment to me is due
For all the wrong things that I do.
And God, in all His justice, said
For the wrong I do, one must end up dead.
But all His love was poured out on
Each one of us, through Christ, His Son.
He took upon Himself, you see,
The punishment that’s due to me
Because He died upon that cross,
Because of God’s almighty loss
All I do to be set free
Is believe in Him who died for me.
So now I am, without a doubt
Made right with God from inside out |
