Happy New Year!

The end of 2006 was a very busy time at the Village Hall with the finale being the Scouts Christmas Party for the Senior Citizens and the Christmas Party for the Solid Silver 50+ Club. Both were well supported and enjoyed by all attending.

2007 has begun with a new venture for the Village Hall which is the Children’s Healthy Activity Mornings which are held on Monday mornings 10am – 12 noon for Pre School children. This is an opportunity for your little ones to let off steam on the soft play equipment and socialise at the same time. No need to book, just turn up. £2 for the first child and 50p for additional children: refreshments included.

The ‘Solid Silver 50+Club’ has gone from strength to strength with a visit to the theatre in January, a talk from the Fire Brigade and Valentine’s Day songs from ‘Howard Cole’ in February.

All of these activities and clubs wouldn’t survive without the support of volunteers and committee members who give their time and expertise voluntarily. Unfortunately it would appear that the same people are on most of the committees within the Village and there is only so much that they can achieve. New blood is needed for many of the local organisations. One in particular is Marchwood Tots who run Parent and Toddlers sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Village Hall. The committee is a hard working band but their numbers are shrinking and they need more volunteers to guarantee the survival of the group.

Marchwood Community Association who run the Village Hall is also low in numbers and would welcome newcomers to the management committee. We meet ten times a year in a very relaxed atmosphere and administer the running of the Village Hall.
