Generous donations of knitted garments for two charities, were completed by some of the member 9 Balaclava Helmets, 3 Bobble Hats and 6 pairs of fingerless mittens.
These went to the British and International Sailors’ Society for the ships’
personnel and eagerly received by those arriving from warmer climes.
To the “Feed the Children” charity we sent 11 Children’s Jumpers, 5 Cot Blankets, 1 Helmet, Bonnet, Pair Bootees and a pair of Mittens.
Again, when writing this report, there are a further 9 jumpers, 1 blanket and a helmet, a pair of booties and two hats ready for despatch. These items help to bring warmth and colour into the lives of some very deprived and vulnerable children. This charity is currently supporting street children, orphans, children affected with HIV/AIDS and families displaced by conflict.
There were 18 of us at the Christmas lunch which finished our meetings for 2005. We recommenced on the 12th January 2006 and look forward to seeing new members (as we did last year) 2pm - 4pm Thursday afternoons in the Village Hall. Refreshments and a friendly welcome.
