A Happy New Year to everyone and what an exciting year it will be for Marchwood Village Hall.
First, on a sad note, we say Goodbye to Planet Kids After School Club who have moved to the Infant School: the good news is that they will be back for the Holiday Club.
This also means that we have some afternoons free so if you have something that you would like to do during the week on an afternoon, we have a lovely big hall that is free.
As promised, we are putting together a calendar of events, which started with a Tea Dance on January 21st, this was a great success as you can see from the photo on the front cover. The Tea Dances will be held monthly with the next one on February 18th.
On March 27th we will present ‘Pride & Prejudice’ which has recently hit the big screen. The film starts at 3pm and tickets will be £4 and can be bought at the Village Hall and Alldays. This is the day after Mothers’ Day, so what a good present a ticket would be! If this proves to be popular it will be the first of many ‘Marchwood Movies’.
On April 22nd there will be a ‘Quiz Night’. Tickets will be £3.50 each (bring your own food and drink). These are always popular and good fun, so challenge a friend to bring a team.
May is a busy month with a ‘Ladies’ Evening’ on the 13th May 7pm. This will be an evening of pampering and eating. More information will be on the notice boards.
This year we are taking part in Hampshire County Council’s ‘Silver Surfers Week’ starting on 20th May and continuing from 22nd to 26th. This is to encourage older people to use the Internet and E Mail with the hope that this will enhance their lives and give access to friends and family without letters. This is a free service and times etc will be published on the notice boards. If anyone has a good working knowledge of the Internet and could volunteer to assist with this week please call the number below. Don’t forget that the Village Hall has computers for public use, which are attached to the internet. Pop in and see what’s on offer. Forthcoming events will be in the June magazine.
Yoga has returned to the Village Hall on a Thursday evening, details on the number below. Don’t forget that the Village Hall is available for private functions, children’s birthday parties, adult parties, dinners, dances ……almost anything you want. We set up the room with tables and chairs and you bring your guests. You can do your own catering or we can supply a caterer. We also know of mobile bars and discos. How about a family get together? We have all the disabled facilities as well as baby needs.
For enquiries and bookings please phone 023 80861819.
