I have been asked to write and introduce myself as a new Parish Councillor but first I would like to thank everyone who turned out to vote for me. I was very touched and I will try hard to do the best I can for Marchwood.
Although born and brought up in Cheshire, I have lived in the village for 19 years. Both my children have been to Marchwood Infant and Junior Schools and I was a governor at the infant school for 8 years. I work part-time as a pharmacist and also drive a minibus for Age Concern. As a member of Friends of the Earth I protested against the development of Dibden Bay.
I have been very impressed by the efficiency of the Parish Council and the hard work done by the existing councillors, and have joined the Amenities Committee which covers such things as open spaces, play areas, bus shelters etc.
I am looking forward to the return of the Village Carnival this summer. It was good to see the people of Marchwood protesting last week about the dangerous traffic situation, we need to send clear signals that we are not prepared to sit back let our village be ruined. |
