In 1987 Paul O’Gorman aged 14 died of leukaemia. 9 months later his sister also died of cancer. Always a caring child, Paul made his parents promise to help others with the disease.
Just days after the death of his sister, Paul’s parents met Diana, Princess of Wales. Deeply moved by their double tragedy, she personally helped established and inaugurate this charity in January 1988.
Only 14 years ago a diagnosis of leukaemia was a virtual death sentence for a child. Now 3 out of 4 survive, but it still kills more children than any other disease in the UK.
Thanks to the generous support of the public, many areas of research and treatment are being investigated and progressed. We have made grants totalling £1m to leading researchers around the world. In addition we provide capital funding for 5 research centres in the UK located in London, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol and most recently Glasgow.
Flora London Marathon
Sponsorship needed
My name is Len Davidson. I live at 4 Woodglade Close. On the 23rd April this year I will be running the London Marathon for
Children with Leukaemia. It is quite likely that you have seen me out training, either with or without my dog Spencer. I am asking for sponsorship from residents of Marchwood in this quest. I hope to have sponsorship forms available in the village shop on the square, and in the Roebuck Pub. Alternatively, you can log-on to my charity web page:
www.bmycharity.com/V2/davidsoncwl
and donate in this way. You can also find more information about the charity there. Thanking you in anticipation of your generosity.
