We were delighted once again to host our annual Senior Citizens’ Party during December in Marchwood Village Hall and welcome so many guests.
The boys in each section put on some entertainment which ranged from singing songs to tying knots. Thank you to all the parents who provided food for the party. This year’s party will be held on Saturday 9th December and any senior citizens living in Marchwood are welcome to attend, so please mark the date in your diary now.
Brenda Knight, our Scouter in Charge, was presented with a badge to mark 40 years in scouting. She was surprised to receive a visit from Brian Young the Acting District Commissioner who made the presentation. Brenda is very much devoted to scouting and the boys and parents are all very grateful for the hard work she puts in for the Group.

The Beavers have been looking at the topic of nature; they have been finding out about creepy crawlies, making nest builders and are hoping to have a trip to an observatory.
The Cubs are looking at different forms of communication and this will include learning semaphore. The cub pack also received a visit from two teddies named Baden and Amelia; the bears are trying to visit as many Cub packs as possible to celebrate 90 years of the Cub movement.
The Scouts have been taking part in different activities including cooking a meal for a patrol of 5 or 6 boys for £1. All the patrols succeeded although the meal size and taste varied! The Scouts are now planning to take apart some old electrical goods to find out how they are made. They are also hoping to go on an indoor camp at Ferny Crofts.
We would like to thank everyone who supported our stall at the Village Centre open evening in December.
Plant & Cake Sale - This year we will be holding our plant and cake sale on the evening of Friday 5th May from 6 pm to 8pm and on Saturday 6th May from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm at the Scout Hut in Lloyd’s Recreation ground.
If you would like to put your child’s name on the Beaver waiting list or for any other enquiries regarding the Scout Group please contact; Brenda Knight 023 80865012. |
