An update and invitation
from the Forestry Commission Forest operations in Dibden Inclosure
are due to begin this spring. The works form part of
the Forestry Commission’s long-term vision for
the New Forest. This follows lengthy consultation,
resulting in production of the New Forest Design Plans.
You may even have taken part in one of our public meetings, “New
Forest, New Future” during this process.
Work in Dibden Inclosure will include heathland habitat restoration in Dibden
Bottom, while other areas will be returned to wooded heath. The aim is to create
a more natural feel to the woodland. This is to be achieved via ride edge work
and the breaking up of uniform tree stands. The work will move forward our Forest
Design Plan objectives in creating a more a more aesthetically pleasing woodland
for all users to enjoy.
We appreciate that this is a popular Inclosure and our aim is to keep you informed
at every stage of the operations. A display panel will be erected for the duration
of the work and we intend to have an increased ranger presence on site, especially
during busy periods, to help answer any questions or concerns you may have.
During the work period we ask you to help us to maintain our 100% safety record
by observing all safety signs on site.
We hope our forest operations will not cause you too much disruption and that
you might use this opportunity to visit other nearby sites such as Marchwood
Inclosure.
For further information, we invite you to attend one of two informal events at
Dibden Inclosure.
Join a forester and ranger to look in more detail at our management of the Inclosure
for both recreation and conservation value. Gain an insight into the vision for
the area and how this is to be achieved.
