| ‘Christmas is Over,
so what about Easter?’
How did you know that Christmas is over?
No more turkey left?
Had to go back to work?
No more Christmas lights on local houses?
No more cards or decorations at half price?
The need to ‘up’ the exercise and shed a few pounds
(or kilos?)
The start of summer holiday adverts?
The appearance of Easter eggs in the shops?
As you read this, it is now almost Easter. Last year, the film ‘The Passion
of the Christ’ was released and was followed by controversy and debate
in the media. The film focused on the final hours of the life of Jesus on earth
- a life which also attracted a wide range of opinions and reactions 2000 years
ago.
Jesus certainly made an impact through His teaching and the claims He made.
These were matched by his actions. He said He was God’s son and said
that “I am the way, the truth and the life... no one comes to the father
(God) except through me”.
At Easter, Christians remember the death and celebrate the resurrection of
Jesus. Nearer to Easter you may well see posters in Marchwood which state ‘Jesus
- a passion for you’ which remind us of the purpose of Jesus’ time
on earth. Perhaps we may forget what Jesus said and what Easter is all about,
but every time we write the date it is a reminder that history has Jesus’ time
on earth as its pivotal moment, the calendar being split into BC (Before Christ)
and AD.
If you would like to take a closer look at Jesus’ life and the things
He said, we would be happy to help. Or you would be welcome to join us on a
Sunday morning at 10.30 in the Village Hall where we continue to have opportunities
for discussion.
