Can you spare
one afternoon every other month to help
CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE?
The Local Network Fund is a government grant scheme
that helps local
groups to tackle poverty and disadvantage amongst children
and young
people aged 0 to 19 years. It awards grants of up to £7,000.
We are looking for volunteers to join a panel of people
that makes the grant awards. There is a maximum of
six meetings per year and these are usually held on
the third Wednesday of every other month (January,
March, May, July,
September and October) from 12.30pm to 4.00pm.
*FREE FOOD AND TRANSPORT*
We are particularly keen to encourage young people
and members of ethnic minority groups to join the Assessment
Panel. All panel members have an equal opportunity
to ask questions and put forward their views on the
projects being considered. Lunch will be provided and
all travel costs repaid.
We like to ensure that the panel represents the geographical
area of the grant and we welcome interest from the
whole Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton
areas but do not currently have any representatives
from Basingstoke and Deane, Hart, Rushmoor, or East
Hampshire districts.
Panel members are given a summary of each grant application.
They will be given time to ask questions and discuss
the project amongst themselves. Each member will then
have to decide if that project deserves to be awarded
a grant from the Local Network Fund.
