For residents information,
I record below some recent activities of the Marchwood
Parish Council Amenities Committee.
1. New Seating:
As many of you will have observed, two
black ornamental seats have been installed in the
vicinity of the Falklands War Memorial. Further to
this a wooden bench is due to be placed on the ‘green’ at
Twiggs Lane in the spring.
2. Lloyds Recreation Ground:
Following the installation
of new safety fencing to make the play area more
compact, an upgrade of play equipment is now in
hand and it is hoped to have a seesaw type swing
and a climbing frame in place in the spring. This
is intended to cater for children up to 12 years
old.
3. Bridge at Oaklands:
Due to the deterioration of
the bridge, it is anticipated that it will need to
be replaced in the near future. This of course, will
be an expensive operation and the Council has been
budgeting for this eventuality over a number of years.
Quotations for the supply and installing of a new
bridge are being sought.
4. Gospel Church Community Project:
The Council were
very pleased to accept an offer from the
Gospel Church youth leaders for their youth members
to undertake some community tasks for the benefit
of the village. Consequently, to date a litter
pick has been carried out and a number of bulbs
planted in the open area behind St. John’s
Church.
