Youth Worker Update - Summer Sports and Fun in the Park
Jenga!
At the time of going to press, Marchwood’s Summer Sports and Fun In The Park was busy setting new records.

The first four of the ten sessions have already attracted over 220 young people and a new record attendance for Marchwood was set on Wednesday 1st August when a noisy 76 youngsters attended the session at Lloyds.

Interestingly, we get almost as many young people inside in the Scout Hut doing Arts & Crafts, Clay Modelling, Painting, Badge Making, etc as we do outside playing sports or games.

This year, we introduced the ‘Saints In The Community’ Soccer Schools and the two ‘workouts’ to date have proved extremely popular with boys and girls alike. We’ve also had even more parents attending this year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their kind comments about the project and for their help and assistance by participating in the games and helping to clear away.

Once again, my thanks also to the Scouts for the use of their premises as well as Barbara Allen at the Village Hall for the loan of their tables.

* New Under-18’s Evening *

Starting on Wednesday 19th September, and every Wednesday evening thereafter, is a brand new Under 18’s evening at Cue T’s Snooker Club in the Village Precinct. As the dark, cold evenings draw in, Cue T’s owners have very kindly offered the use of their facilities from 6.30 - 8.30pm every Wednesday evening for young people aged 14-18.

Cue T’s have made available the free use of a full-sized snooker table in the snooker room along with the free use of the pool table in the main bar area where you’ll be able to buy soft drinks and sweets. You can also play darts or cards, listen to music, join in with some fun quizzes or just chill with a coffee and some chocolate with your friends to watch your fav soap on the big screen!

Entry is just 50p - see you there!

“Friday’s” Sports Project

Calling all bored teenagers! Come along and play football or tennis every Friday evening at the Lloyds Recreation Ground. The floodlit courts will be available from 7.00 - 9.00pm starting from Friday 21st September - once again entry is only 50p.
