| Marchwood Fete a Great Success |
| |
It could not have been a better day – and not just the weather! (See pictures)
Marchwood celebrated in style with the second extremely successful year of its new fete. The lucky break in the weather was timed to perfection with the sun shining, the sky was blue and everyone celebrated what felt like the first day of summer - perfect.
Everyone turned out prepared for the good weather and enjoyed loads of fun activities. Music by the Plonkers Agricultural Orchestra, dancing and singing by the Fijians based with the army in the village, the children dancing and the absolutely fabulous medieval fancy dress parade – too many of you to count this year! Congratulations to all of the winners of the fancy dress competition. There was also Punch and Judy, Jonathan the Jester and the King John Morris Dancers and a fantastic falconry display.
More than 40 stalls were offering their goods – from sweets and fresh produce to games and crafts. Many thanks to the BBQ, the W.I., Cue T’s for doing the bar, the army for lending us their tents and soldiers for giving us a hand and thank you to all of the volunteers on the day.
A very special thank you has to be said to our sponsors – Hendy Group, Oceanic Estates Ltd., and also to Asbestos Building Projects, Veolia, Marchwood Parish Council and Marchwood Post Office.
A date has been pencilled in for next year – so watch this space for more information later on.
We would like your feedback please! Send us your comments on this year’s fete and your ideas for next year. Also we would like to know if you would like to help our small committee, either with the planning and preparation or by just volunteering on the day.
If you would like to provide sponsorship for next year’s event then we would love to hear from you. Please send your comments to: Marchwood Fete, c/o Marchwood Village Hall, Village Centre, Marchwood, SO40 4SX or email: marchwoodfete@hotmail.co.uk by 30th August. |
