Handyman Service

I am pleased to say that Community First have re-introduced their handyman service. People may remember ‘Repair with Care’ which had to close last November as funding ran out. The new contract from Hampshire County Council includes provision for a new service, which is mainly aimed at people who are elderly, disabled, or on low incomes. People will be able to get small repairs and adaptations done at a low cost by a trustworthy and reliable Handyman. Examples of the type of work that can be done include: changing tap washers, easing drawers, putting up shelves, fixing door locks, hanging pictures and changing light bulbs.

Costs will be:

· £5 per hour for those in receipt of a qualifying benefit (eg: income support, Council Tax Benefit, Pension Credit).

· £8 per hour for anyone else.

· Minimum labour charge of one hour.

· All materials paid for or supplied by clients.

Please ring 01425 478005 for the Handyman Service.

Age Concern Footcare Service
Age Concern New Forest East have opened a new footcare clinic in St Andrews Church, Dibden Purlieu, for the over 50s. Sessions will be held on Thursdays. A fully qualified podiatrist will be in attendance. Other clinics are held regularly at the following:

· Forest Surgery, Dibden Purlieu, Hythe.
· Hythe And Dibden, Community Centre, Hythe.
· Totton Medical Centre, Totton.

Charges are £10 for toenail cutting and £15 for finger and toenail cutting. Home visits can be arranged. For further information on all the above please contact Jean Adams on 023 8084 1199 between 10.00 am and 1.00pm.

Marchwood Village Fete
Were you among the many hundreds (thousands) who enjoyed our marvellous Village Fete on July 7th? If so, may I, on your behalf, thank Wendy and Mike Proctor, Laura Martin, Helena and Peter Slade, Barbara Allen, Council Groundsman Tony Lavington and the Fete Steering Group et al for their superb efforts.

Why not offer to help with next year’s Fete and meet some great people at the same time. Please contact Barbara Allen on 023 8066 7927.
