| Ex-Servicemens’ Garden Party |

As part of the New Forest District Council’s Veterans Week, a garden party was held for veterans on June 23rd at Appletree Court, Lyndhurst. Several hundred veterans and guests enjoyed sandwiches or a Hog Roast lunch that was provided. Live music was played as many veterans met old friends, discussed their Service adventures or inspected the military memorabilia on display.
Both New Forest MPs, Dr Julian Lewis and Desmond Swayne were present along with the New Forest District Councillor Bill Dow and the Council Leader Mel Kendal.
Our picture shows four ex-servicemen from Marchwood who attended the event. From left to right they are: Ron Hazell (ex Army), Roland Drake (ex Navy), Peter Knight and Ron Vango-Fisher (both ex RAF).
The New Forest District Council intend to hold the Veterans’ Week as an annual event and to build on this year’s successful launch. |
