Things you like about Marchwood:
The Community clearly enjoy the Village feel and the friendly people that live in Marchwood, and they particularly like the location, whether it’s because of the proximity to the Forest and Waterfront, or the ease of access to road networks and local towns. People also value the local shops, the Village centre facilities such as the hall, and our excellent schools and churches.
Things you don’t like about Marchwood:
Top of the list of things people don’t like is too many Lorries/Traffic and that item is more than double the number of responses for the second item on the list, Vandalism and Graffiti. People are fed up with speeding traffic, but conversely, also high up the list is a dislike of current traffic calming measures. People really don’t like the lack of safe foot and cycle paths and they also don’t like the amount of litter/fly tipping, the smells from the sewerage works, or the unsightly old incinerator building.
Things you wish we had in Marchwood:
Top of the list of things that you wish we had is adequate youth facilities in the village. You also want to see safer footpaths and pedestrian friendly routes around the Village, particularly those that allow safe passage by foot on the school run. After that comes the desire to see a more visible police presence in the Village, the wish to see a wider range of shops in the centre, the pressing need to provide more effective traffic calming mechanisms and the need to improve public transport links.
Things you don’t want coming to Marchwood:
Perhaps predictably, there are 3 big items, No more houses, No more lorries/Traffic and No more industrial development. There is also a rejection of Dibden Bay development, more rubbish handling facilities, another Power Station, or any Supermarket development.
