The response we have received to our Community Plan questionnaire has been magnificent. The main questionnaire, together with a specific consultation exercise run by Derek Hawkins with a number of the young people of Marchwood has generated 286 responses.
Given that there are 2,500 households in Marchwood, that’s well over an 11% response, which for an exercise of this kind is a tremendous response.
I would therefore like to thank all of you who have taken part and in particular, Richard Dance, Barbara Allen, John Curtis and Colin Currie who have been kind enough to maintain our post box facilities throughout the busy Christmas period.
In addition to the main questionnaire, our business questionnaire on the Industrial Park generated 15% responses from the 66 businesses operating there and it was interesting to note that just like the rest of the Community, their big issue is transport infrastructure.
Then Maureen Green and Sue Goulding ran a consultation session in the Infant school that involved 66 children.
And last but by no means least, Steve Bassett and his team have also run an impressive consultation exercise with each of the young people in the junior school.
So if you add all that together, that’s over 600 individuals who have become involved in the Community Plan consultation process to date and in my opinion, that’s a figure that the people of Marchwood should be very pleased about, as it gives us a very clear guide to the priority areas that need to be addressed by the Community Plan and a clear mandate to help us move confidently on through the plan process.
