New Forest District Council will be represented by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Leader of the council when they attend and lay wreaths at Remembrance services across the forest on Sunday 8 November.

The Chairman, Councillor Alison Hoare, will be attending a service at St John the Apostle Church in Marchwood at 10.45am and laying wreaths at the Falklands memorial and the Parish war memorial at the church.

The service will be led by the Revd Simon Hones with the Solent Station Officiating Chaplain to the Military, Revd (Padre) Roger Edwards participating. Approximately 70 soldiers from the 17 Port & Maritime Regiment RLC will parade.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire will be represented at the services by Deputy Lieutenant Hallam Mills Esq DL. The Chairman and the Deputy Lieutenant will lay their wreaths together.

Councillor Mrs Hoare will also be attending Keyhaven at 2pm to lay a wreath at the war memorial and attend a service.

Finally at 3pm she will attend Milford on Sea’s remembrance service at All Saints’ Church and lay a wreath.

The Vice Chairman, Councillor Goff Beck, will be attending the parade leaving Crossmead Car Park, New Milton at 10.45 am.

The parade will then “muster” around the town’s war memorial with the assembled local uniformed groups, schools and other local organisations, where Councillor Beck will lay a wreath.

Following this, he will attend the service being held at New Milton Memorial Centre at 11.00am.

Leader of the council, Councillor Barry Rickman, will read the Roll of Honour at the remembrance service at St Luke’s Church, Sway at 9.30am before joining the procession to Sway war memorial, one of only a small number of war memorials located on the open forest, where he will lay a wreath.
